LURP Action 21
Action 21 directs the Waimakariri District Council to provide to the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery any amendments to its District Plan to the extent necessary to provide methods to give effect to the objectives and policies for Māori Reserve 873 (Tuahiwi) and change or vary objectives, policies and methods to recognise and provide for the relationship of Ngāi Tahu whānui with other Māori reserves. The Council needed to supply this information to the Minister by 30 April 2015.
The following changes were proposed:
- Introduce rules, definitions a map, and an Outline Development Plan to provide for cluster housing within the Rural Zone within Māori Reserve 873 at Tuahiwi and the expansion of the Residential 3 Zone that is the Tuahiwi village. Amendments are not proposed for other Māori reserves.
Previously the Council has asked for comment on development options and opportunities within MR873. The Council has now completed its consultation on these development options and opportunities and Council staff have prepared a Further Information Report. The full report can be read below.
The Council set aside 18 March 2015 for the hearing of comments received on LURP Action 21 – MR873 in relation to the Further Information Report.
Action 21 became operative from 29 October 2015.
