In 2017, we asked you about expanding the current kerbside collection service (a recycling bin and bag collection) to help reduce the amount of waste going to landfill. Over 2,600 people had their say and sent in a submission.
The Council’s preference is a ‘Your Choice’ kerbside waste collection, which will be available from 1 July 2019. There are 14 different collection services and the cost will vary depending on the service you choose.
The minimum service for people in a collection area is a standard 240L recycling bin, which costs $86 per property per year. In addition to that, on a user-pays basis, you can choose what other service you would like.

To offer a ‘Your Choice’ kerbside collection service from 1 July 2019, because
During 2018 we’ll be asking you specifically what collection service you want and depending on what that is, your rates may vary from $86 up to $371 per property. For a household choosing the standard 3 bin service, the cost of $321 will be charged to your rates bill from 1 July 2019.
The collection service we currently provide only has 1 service offered for rubbish with no flexibility to customise your household waste needs. Council rubbish and organics bins won’t be available if we continue with this service.
