About Reserve Enhancement

We want to know what you think about a concept plan to enhance a storm water reserve known as Sparks Land on Northbrook Road for recreational purposes.

We have split the development of the plan into two stages. The second stage will be completed if additional funding becomes available.

Stage One

  • Proposes to install a new bridge at the site of an old farm bridge to provide reserve connection to other recreational areas such as Northbrook Wetlands
  • It also includes planting of natives and the extension of the shingle pathway to link back to the car park from the open grass area.

Stage Two

  • More native planting through the eastern section of the reserve
  • A connection to the existing pathway through a new culvert over the current waterway separating the new areas.

Sparks Land contains multiple springs forming the headwaters of the Cam River.  It has Koura, Eel and Inanga present so has significant ecological value and is important in efforts to improve the freshwater quality of the Cam River.

We want to know what you think about the reserve proposal and any feedback you have before the project begins.

Please provide your feedback no later than
5pm, Friday 22 March 2019.
