The Fencing of Swimming Pools Act was introduced to protect young children from the danger of drowning.
The Council has 112 units in Kaiapoi, Oxford, Rangiora and Woodend for people over 65 with limited means.

The Waimakariri District Council is one of the largest employers in the Waimakariri District and has become an employer of choice.
This followed a workshop with the Woodend-Sefton Community Board in October 2018, when staff were asked to prepare a report providing details about potential projects on which the Woodend-Sefton General Landscape Budget could be used.
The first option reflects the beach feel bringing in surfboards that are staggered to create dimension.
The second option continues the beach vibe highlighting the waves of the sea and incorporating the New Zealand jandal icon.
Option three provides an abstract view of the landscape including the sea, the beach and the greenspaces. It is proposed that macrocarpa posts are used to support the signage.
