Kaiapoi Residents Asked To Conserve Water

Residents on the Kaiapoi water supply network, including Pines Beach and Kairaki, are being asked to conserve water for the next two weeks while essential maintenance is underway at the Darnley water pump station.

Please conserve water for the next 8 hours

Residents on the Kaiapoi water supply network, including Pines Beach and Kairaki, are asked to conserve water for the next eight hours.

Due to very high water usage, the Kaiapoi water network is currently under pressure.
Please help by delaying any non-urgent, high-use activities such as:

  • Watering gardens or lawns
  • Using irrigation systems
  • Filling or topping up swimming pools

These actions will help maintain steady water pressure across the network while maintenance continues at the Darnley pump station.

We appreciate everyone’s efforts to use water wisely.

The Darnley pump station is currently offline for urgent maintenance, which means the Peraki pump station is supplying the entire Kaiapoi network.

With another warm, dry week forecast, we’re asking everyone to do their bit to help keep the water supply stable — especially by avoiding garden watering between 3pm and midnight.

This will help reduce pressure on the system and prevent the need for formal water restrictions.
