NZ Government Departments

Career Services – this is a helpful site for work related things, for example, job searching and CV’s.

Department of Conservation – the government agency in charge of conservation and protection of nature, as well as recreation opportunities including walking tracks and backcountry huts.

Human Rights Commission – works for positive race relations, promotes and protects human rights (including gender, disability and other rights) in New Zealand.

Ministry for the Environment – the government agency in charge of protecting New Zealand’s natural resources.

Ministry of Education - this is the agency for everything to do with education – for example, if you want information about the school system, school holidays (and plenty more!) this is the website to visit.

Ministry for Women – the agency working for women and promoting Women’s Rights.

NZ Immigration Service – this is the service to contact if you would like to find out more about moving to, living and working in New Zealand.

NZQA – this is the NZ Qualifications Authority. This has information about studying in New Zealand and can assess your overseas qualification.

NZTA – this is the government agency that covers transport and traffic.

Office of Ethnic Communities – this department works for all the different ethnic communities in New Zealand.

Tourism NZ - has information about New Zealand for travellers including activities and accommodation. It is also useful for tourism or hospitality businesses.
