Ten Year Plan 2009-2019 (LTP)

The Draft Ten Year Plan 2012-2022 is now open for submission.

Background

The Local Government Act 2002 introduced the requirement that councils must have a Long Term Plan (Ten Year Plan) which is a comprehensive statement of the Council's intentions for the next 10 years.

What is a Ten Year Plan?

A Ten Year Plan:

  • describes Community Outcomes for the District
  • describes the activities of the Council
  • sets out a long term focus for the decisions and activities of the Council
  • provides for integrated decision-making and coordination of Council resources
  • provides a basis for accountability to the community.

The Documents

The Ten Year Plan has been produced in four volumes as follows:

Cover of Ten Year Plan Volume 1. Volume 1: Overview and Key Issues

This volume provides an overview of the content of the Ten Year Plan 2009-2019, including information on all of the Council's key proposals and projects for the coming ten years.

Cover of Ten Year Plan Volume 2. Volume 2: Community Outcomes

This volume focuses on Community Outcomes. It explains how outcomes were identified, how Council works with other organisations and groups in the community, and how progress toward achievement of outcomes is measured.

This volume sets out the Council's contribution to Community Outcomes by groups of activities. Performance measures, financial information, rates examples, and key assumptions and risks underlying the plan are all highlighted.
