The Council's Policy and Strategy Unit undertakes a range of surveys and
other research projects. The results of each of these contribute to
various aspects of Council policy-making, including the Council's Ten
Year Plans and the District Plan.
The Woodend Community Issues Survey was prompted by a desire for initial community input into a Woodend town centre strategy, scheduled to be developed in the 2011/12 financial year. This survey also sought community views about a range of other issues including respondents' 'likes', 'dislikes' and changes 'wanted' and 'not wanted', recreation issues and shopping patterns. The 2011 Community Survey reports on current community attitudes and priorities of Waimakariri District residents. The survey is designed to assist and assess progress toward achieving the community outcomes currently included in the Council's Ten Year Plan 2009-2019. (pdf, 1 MB)
The 2010 Waimakariri District Council (Customer Satisfaction) Survey reports what the District’s residents think about the services and facilities the Council provides for them and other relevant Council activities. This is the fourth in a series of surveys using many of the same questions. Changes in satisfaction levels over these surveys are included in this report.

A number of Community Street Reviews were undertaken to assess the current environment for walking in various urban centres and to suggest possible solutions to improve access on foot.
