Community and Ward Advisory Boardsprint

The Waimakariri District  is divided into four wards, with each ward being represented by a community board or ward advisory board. There are community boards for Kaiapoi, Rangiora and Woodend-Ashley, and a ward advisory board for Oxford-Eyre.

Each board has six elected members voted in every three years, together with the Councillors appointed from each of the appropriate wards. The Oxford-Eyre ward has a ward advisory board which is appointed by the Council, following a public nomination process.

All residents of the District are welcome to contact members of the boards to discuss Council and community-related matters.

Community Boards

The role of a community board is to represent and promote the interests of its community. Each community board is comprised of six elected members plus the current Councillors for that ward.

Ward Advisory Board

A ward advisory board differs from a community board in that the members are appointed by the Council, instead of being elected by the District's residents. A ward advisory board doesn't have the same legal and independent status as a community board.

The Oxford-Eyre Ward Advisory Board is comprised of nine Council-appointed members plus the two Oxford-Eyre ward Councillors.
