Final Woodend Pegasus Area Strategy Adopted by Council
At its meeting on 8 October 2013, the Council adopted the Woodend Pegasus Area Strategy (pdf, 4.9 MB) after the community had the opportunity to comment on a draft Strategy in July/August. This Strategy will assist in planning for the future of the Woodend Pegasus area. It identifies a vision for the Woodend Pegasus area defined as the area including the Woodend township, Pegasus, and the upcoming Ravenswood development immediately to the north of the Woodend urban area. For retail catchment and social cohesion, the wider area extends to Waikuku, the Tuahiwi area, Woodend Beach and Waikuku Beach. The Strategy identifies four key themes - Connectivity, Business, Community, Open Spaces - and a number of strategic directions.
Woodend Pegasus Update
The Council held a public drop-in session on Wednesday 24 July 2013 at the Woodend Community Centre for anybody who wanted to hear more about the draft Strategy, talk to key Council staff and fill in a submission form. View the display panels (pdf, 2.9 MB) that summarise the draft Strategy if you were not able to make it.
The Waimakariri District Council held
a 'Future Options for Woodend Pegasus' community meeting on 30 August
2012. At this meeting Council staff reported the key findings of the
Woodend Community Issues Survey, discussed an approach to developing a
Woodend Pegasus Development Strategy including what the Strategy might
consider, and asked for feedback for some short-term and medium to
long-term opportunities for the Woodend Pegasus area.
