By all reports, the paddling pool had a busy few days over
the long weekend with Waikuku proving a popular spot for those people looking
to soak up the sun. The pool is now open
and is set in the domain at Waikuku Beach.
The domain offers picnic opportunities, a skate bowl,
playground complete with flying fox and short walks to the beach. A quick reminder that the shade sails will be
installed in early November to mitigate any potential damage from high winds or
people letting off fireworks in the park around Guy Fawkes.
Contractors have begun the preparations for opening the
Oxford pool with a wash down and touch up of the building and its surrounds.
The water will be drained and fresh water circulated with
chemical balancing and heating beginning in early to mid-November. Thanks to
plant upgrade work in previous years, the system is now far more efficient,
leading to shorter preparation times and more consistent temperatures
throughout the season.
The pool will open to the public on Saturday 25 November
with the season running through until 11 March 2018.
