The Big Oxford Library Move Is On!

Published: 08-Sep-2017

The temporary Oxford Library and Council Service Centre that has operated from the Pearson’s Park Pavilion closes at midday tomorrow, Saturday, 9th September.

OxfordLibraryConstructionThe closure paves the way for the big move to begin, as the library relocates to its new premises on the corner of Main and Burnett Streets.

The new Oxford library will open its doors for the first time on Monday week, the 18th of September.

In the interim, thousands of books are going to be packed up and relocated to the new building.

A big thank you to all of you who are participating in that onerous job.

Check out our website next week for a sneak peek inside the new building, as well as a look at what goes into shifting a whole library.

While the move is in full swing, staff based at the Oxford Library and Service Centre will have no access to email or phone.

With the library on the move, the Pearson’s Park Pavilion will revert to its primary use as a community facility, with some activities returning from their temporary ‘home’ in the Oxford Town Hall.
