Quality Swim School is the industry benchmark for defining best practice in the swim teaching industry. Tina Brough, Dudley Park Aquatics Centre Manager says, “This is a gold star award in our industry and it’s really great that all the hard work and professionalism of our staff and programmes has been recognised at this high standard.”

The accreditation means that the District’s swim schools conform to a nationally recognised standard and provides them with good teaching practices in a safe environment.

The assessment is rigorous and is broken into nine categories: Programming, Water Safety, Health and Safety, Qualified Staff, First Aid, Inclusion Policy, Professional Development, Community Links and Customer Service.  The higher the recognition the more criteria the swim school meets.

Earlier this year, WaiSwim also received a ‘Recognition of Contribution Award’ from Swimming New Zealand at the annual awards event in Auckland.  This award was in relation to the category ‘All Kiwis Enjoying the Water Safely’ and recognises the ongoing contribution our WaiSwim programme makes to water safety.  The Wai Swim programme includes the Schools Programme, Learn to Swim, Coaching and Adult learn to swim.
