Southbrook Road Traffic Northbound to be Detoured From Sunday

Published: 18-May-2017

Northbound traffic on Southbrook Road will be detoured via South Belt, King Street and Johns Road from the evening of Sunday 21 May 2017. The detour, expected to be in place for about five days, is in place to allow contractors working within the intersection enough space to relocate Chorus services.

The relocated of services to allow for the installation of a large stormwater pipe that crosses the intersection. Once services have been relocated, contractors will be able to complete the pipeline across Southbrook Road detour mapSouth Belt, and connect it into the recently installed manhole outside Kings Mowers.

As part of this work, and while the detour is in place diverting traffic away from the work area, a new section of water main and signal ducting for the traffic lights will be installed.

Due to the nature of working around underground services, some complications could arise. If this happens, extra time may be required to complete the work, and the detour will remain in place until the work is completed.

The suggested detour route is shown in the map. There will continue to be no right hand turns at the intersection. Residents of South Belt and King Street are advised to take care when exiting their driveways due to the higher volumes of traffic following the detour.

Thank you for your continued patience while this work is underway.
