Latest Update for Southbrook Road/South Belt Intersection Improvements

Published: 12-May-2017

This week work at the Southbrook Road/South Belt/Percival Street intersection has continued west along South Belt, with the installation of the new water main now installed as far as Buckleys Road.

The installation of a steel sleeve to house the water main under the Middlebrook Culvert has been delayed due to a mechanical failure, but will be completed next week. The sewer main work has been completed and is now connected into the existing main running through Matawai Park. Steek pipe sleeve in trench

Good progress has been made with the installation of the large diameter stormwater pipe heading north along Percival Street. The stormwater that is being installed across the intersection is on hold due to service clashes. The relocation of these services is scheduled to take place during the week of 22 May.

The sealing of the footpath and the road shoulder on the south-west quadrant of the intersection had been scheduled for Thursday, but was delayed due to poor weather on the day. It has now been rescheduled for the following week.

Next week will see the beginning of the installation of a new footpath on the southern side of South Belt, which will tie into the existing footpath at Buckleys Road.

The installation of the water main will continue west on South Belt towards Ellis Road and a steel sleeve beneath the Middlebrook Culvert will be completed early next week.

The installation of the large-diameter stormwater pipe on the western side of Southbrook Road will continue north next week. The footpath on the western side of Southbrook Road is closed, and will remain closed while the new stormwater main is being installed.

Please drive with care and follow the on-site signage.
