The pink elephant is down, but not out!

Elephant Park couldn’t be called Elephant Park without the beloved pink play structure, which is temporarily out of action while the park undergoes a re-vamp.

Elephant Park Re-Vamp

Council’s Community and Greenspace Manager Chris Brown says “It’s not just the elephant gaining all the attention with a fresh coat of paint, the park re-vamp also includes new toilets, a new swing set, tall slide and junior slide, climbing equipment, see saw, nature area and a spinner. The existing tractor, which is a community favourite, is there to stay with some repairs to be made to improve safety”.

Following public consultation in early 2015, a concept plan was developed incorporating community feedback. The existing play equipment was getting tired and in need of repair so the decision was made to upgrade it with new equipment, allowing the playground to be used and enjoyed for many years to come.

Temporary fencing has been erected on-site ready for work to start this week. The park will be back open ready for action in 6-8 weeks. Please keep safe by staying out of the park until the work has been completed. View the detailed concept plan here.
