Asset management is carried out by the Council to manage the water supply physical assets and associated performance, as well as manage the risks and expenditures over the assets' life cycle.
The Water Supply Activity Management Plans gather together information on the assets for each scheme and identify any scheme management issues in terms of the following aspects:
- Desired and actual levels of service
- Asset condition
- Capacity and performance of the supply
- Risks associated with the supply
- Growth predictions for the scheme.
These aspects are assessed to determine the future works programme including renewals, upgrades to existing assets, new works and maintenance and operation works. The Plans also include improvement plans specific to each scheme, which identify works needed to improve the way the Council manages its assets.
