Wastewater Management in the District

The collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal of sewerage from the 14 communities throughout the District involves the management, operation and maintenance of a number of sewer pump stations and treatment plants.

The Council considers the provision of a public sewer system to the community an essential service. The Council elects to perform this function to ensure that the community receives an affordable, safe and reliable service. This ensures the health of the community is protected and the impacts on the environment are minimised.

Asset management is carried out by the Council to optimally manage its sewerage assets and their associated performance, manage the risks and expenditures over their life cycle.
