Your Garden Greenwaste |

| Only CLEAN garden greenwaste
can be accepted for composting.
Please help us to reduce costs
by making sure your garden waste is free from rubbish before
dumping it at either of our transfer stations (Southbrook
Transfer Station or Oxford
Transfer Station)
The below lists have been supplied
by the Garden City Compost Plant, where we dispose of all
our greenwaste. Please note, THIS LIST IS INTENDED
AS A GUIDE ONLY
Material
Acceptable for Composting
- Tree and shrub prunings up
to 100mm thickness, and any length
- Leaves
- Any green vegetative material,
ie, perennials, vegetable plants, annuals, fruits, etc
- Pea straw, clean hay, straw
Material
NOT Acceptable for Composting
- Grass clippings (because
of the problems caused by "Versatil" and similar
sprays, and because the composting process cannot cope
with large amounts of grass clippings)
- Bamboo
- Flax and flax flower stalks
- Palm fronds
- Gorse in seed
- Cabbage tree leaves
- Complete loads of weeds with
roots heavily contaminated with soil
- Soil and compost heaps
- Stones
- Plastic, glass, metal objects
- Material with baling twine/string
mixed through it
- Oxalis and listed noxious
weeds
- Mixed loads of rubbish and
garden waste that cannot be sorted
- Newspaper (clean newspapers
can be recylced)
- Animal manure
