What You Can Take There

Both transfer stations accept residual waste (rubbish or refuse). The following materials must not be dumped in the refuse pit:

  • tyres (these are charged separately)
  • gas cylinders (please drop off at the kiosk - there is no charge)
  • wire ropes longer than 1 metre in length
  • asbestos (can only be disposed of at Christchurch City Council's Metro EcoDepot in Bromley)
  • liquid, offensive, hazardous or special wastes
  • sealed containers or drums (even if empty).

Other Accepted Wastes

These separated wastes are also accepted at the Southbrook Resource Recovery Park: compostable garden waste, clean hardfill, plasterboard, tyres, expanded polystyrene foam and recyclable packaging foam.

These separated wastes are also accepted at the Oxford Transfer Station: tree and hedge trimmings (suitable for chipping), and tyres from cars, 4WDs, small commercial vehicles and trucks (no large tyres).

These wastes are all charged for at the kiosk. Note: loads containing contaminants or waste for disposal will be charged the full gate charges.
