Implications for Building Consents

New knowledge regarding seismic risk for the Waimakariri District means that, as of 19 May 2011, foundations within an area where liquefaction and/or lateral spread could occur are now subject to specific engineering design by a chartered professional engineer except those of AS/NZS1170 importance level 1 (e.g. structures with a total floor area <30 m2, farm buildings, isolated structures, towers in rural situations, fences, masts, walls, in-ground swimming pools).
