Kaiapoi Historic River Town Centre Revitalisation Plan 2009 |
|
|
|
The Kaiapoi Town Centre Revitalisation Plan is a forward looking draft
plan – part of the Waimakariri District Council’s Kaiapoi
Development Strategy, responding to a range of issues including residential
development, town centre enhancement, transport and service infrastructure
and business land opportunities. The plan integrates these and other factors
to provide an energetic, exciting and vital ‘heart’ to Kaiapoi.
The area
Within a 500 metre radius of the bridge. All of the existing
town centre including “The Crossing” and
Riverside Centre Shopping areas. Extending past Cass
Street to the north and Fuller Street to the south.

The plans
Six plans have been prepared to outline a preferred land-use
pattern and built urban form, identify areas of open
space for public use, consider infrastructure such
as roads and parking, and identify those historic and
special features that define the character of the Kaiapoi
Town Centre.
The plans will ultimately be developed to become a revitalisation
plan – a plan to provide a framework to guide development
or re-development of the town centre and its immediate
surrounding area over the coming years.
