Council increases Robbie's Building Drop Zone
February 23, 2012
Following further engineering consultation, the Waimakariri District Council has increased the drop zone area around Robbie's Bar and Bistro on High Street. The building, assessed as dangerous, subsequently closed on Tuesday 31 January and has had its drop zone increased as a safety measure.
While the original drop zone of six metres removed six parking spaces on High Street and parking in the area behind the building, Council says its is working to keep the road open and pedestrian access to High Street is still available following the increase in the drop zone.
Council is encouraging shoppers to use parking on Blake Street, which is not affected at all by building closures. Council is also currently exploring alternative parking options for High Street shoppers including revision of parking time restrictions in Council owned car parking areas
