Jeff Elliott - Contemporary Life Studies

This is Jeff Elliott’s first exhibition and he was reluctant to write much about himself. He started painting in 2002 when he received painting materials as a present. Since that time he has practised almost daily endeavouring to hone his drawing skills. He quickly came to appreciate figure drawing and by application, study, and tuition developed his skills. He enjoys running and says that to do any good at this you must practice daily, he applies this discipline to his art making.

He has attended university extension classes and is a member of the Cranmer Group in Christchurch (a group for professional artists doing life drawing).

Through his dedication to his art practice he has produced vibrant studies from life, not photographs, capturing attitude and mood which gives them a dramatic impact. He has the confidence to intuitively use colour and expressive gestural brushwork.

Jeff lives in Amberley where he also runs a large and successful plant nursery.
