'Art at Work'
The past ten years have been really exciting, yes doing Art, but also inventing and building papermaking equipment for village and community projects around the world.
I get requests every week: a machine for a Training Centre for the Deaf in Tanzania, a craft initiative in the northern region of South Africa which provides employment for over 400 women, a special needs class in Michigan who want to teach the rest of their school how to make paper.
The Kiwi way is to say 'Yes' and then to figure out how it can be done. That’s where this exhibition comes in 'Art at Work.'
The proceeds of the sale of 100 prints can fund a papermaking machine to a key place in the world, and this is the wonderful bit we get to choose where it goes.
Each woodcut is on handmade NZ flax paper, they can be folded down to fit in an ordinary envelope, and can be posted anywhere in the world.
