The Council is proposing to put in place a 50km/h speed limit on the following roads:
And an 80km/h speed limit on these roads:
From Watkins Place to east of Devlin Place
From Papawai Drive to east of Goodwin Street
Kippenberger Avenue / Rangiora Woodend Road
From the proposed 50km/h change point to 500m east of Golf Links Road
From Oxford Road to River Road
From Lehmans Road to West Belt
Kippenberger Avenue, from Watkins Drive to east of Devlin Avenue has recently been developed and upgraded. A new cycleway and cycle crossing point is also planned for Kippenberger Avenue.
Northbrook Road from Papawai Drive to east of Goodwin Street has also been upgraded following urban development in the area.
There is an increase in heavy traffic using Lehmans Road and River Road, particularly following the chip-sealing of River Road. There is also an increase in development and roadside activity along the length of Lehmans Road.
It’s time to review whether the speed limits in these areas need to be changed.
