The collaborative of Social Services Waimakariri exists to develop, enhance and coordinate service responses to health and social issues relevant to our community.

This is accomplished by providing:

  • A strategic focus on community outcomes and building capacity
  • Strong leadership in collaboration, advocacy, innovation and project activity
  • Encouraging shared decision-making across the whole community, in a way that is well connected to the community, social service providers, Ngai Tuahuriri, local and central government.

Social Services Waimakariri is an advisory group that provides a forum for invited social sector community providers and partners from local and central government to:

  • Identify, prioritise, and respond to emerging social and health issues
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative responses
  • Encourage collaboration among social and health service providers in Waimakariri District
  • Provide information and advice to the Council on social and health service needs and gaps in the District
  • Act as an information channel between the community and the Council.

Community Older Persons Group

The Community Older Persons Group is responsible for identifying gaps and needs within the community relating to older people. The group's intention is to be accountable to the community and provide a collective contribution to the wellbeing of the community.

Families with Children Collaborative

The purpose of the Families with Children Collaborative is to strengthen and continue building local services and initiatives to meet new and emerging issues within the District, as they relate to families with children.

The intention of the group is to be accountable to the community, and provide a collective contribution to the wellbeing of the community. Therefore, projects and priorities will be worked in partnership with the community.

Parenting Support and Information

The Community Team put out a brochure every term covering children's and young people's programmes, parenting programmes, support services and counselling services.

Mental Health Working Parties

The Mental Health Working Parties are committed to facilitating the best possible mental health outcomes for the people of Waimakariri.

The goal is to increase cooperation and collaboration between service providers in the District, and identify gaps and propose solutions in service provisions.
