When an 'Initial Enquiry' form is received by the Council, it is referred to the person responsible for the area of 'first choice'. They will contact you by phone within one week to arrange an appointment for an 'Application Interview'.

Please bring with you to the interview a copy of the following documents:

  • Your New Zealand Birth Certificate, Passport or proof of residency
  • Statement of Income from Work and Income NZ and/or from your employer
  • A list of your assets
  • Medical Certificate if applicable
  • You are welcome to bring a support person with you to the interview.

After the interview, if your application is approved, your name will be placed on the waiting list. Units are allocated on a per need basis and not necessarily offered to the first person on the waiting list. The applicant’s current living arrangements and any medical requirements are also considered when units are allocated.
