The directory is made up of two parts:

Part 1: A directory outlining local and regional community and social services.
Part 2: A directory outlining a wide range of community groups and organisations using the CINCH headings.

Parts 1 and 2 are indexed and cross-referenced separately.

Interested in joining a group, but not sure what’s available? Wish to do some part-time study, but not sure what’s on offer?

CINCH (Community Information Christchurch) is a comprehensive database covering 6000 groups and nearly 2000 courses of study in the greater Christchurch area, and is a service provided by Christchurch City Libraries.

Search CINCH at http://christchurchcitylibraries.com/cinch on computers at any Christchurch City Libraries or over the internet and you can find information about garden clubs, more than 300 church groups, ethnic groups, and 130 medical support groups.

Thinking about pursuing a sport? You’ll find more than 200 entries under “sports for women” and, if dancing takes your interest, you’ll find 155 listings including belly dancing, line dancing, old time and Irish dancing.

Halls for hire and information about government departments are also listed on CINCH, as are details of pre-schools, kindergartens and day care centres.

CINCH lists nearly 2000 continuing education courses at high schools, universities and CPIT. These range from speed reading and stress management courses to computer skills and Japanese classes.

Listings are continuously updated. For a small charge, you can request CINCH to provide you with information as printouts, mailing labels, or as a mail merge document. We do provide printouts and mailing labels, but not mail merge documents.
