This page relates to the youth in the Waimakariri District and what the Council is doing to help support them in the community.
Youth Development
We want our young people to be happy, vibrant and full of confidence. The Council has developed a Youth Development Strategy (pdf, 5.65 MB) which outlines how the Council and community can invest in the development of our young people, so they feel valued and encouraged to stay and make positive contributions to the continued growth of the District.
Positive Youth Development has been described as an approach that guides communities in the way they organise programmes, people and support so that young people can develop to their full potential.
The WaiYouth website was launched in 2010 as a useful guide for young people in the Waimakariri District. The website provides information on everything from where to go to get medical advice to what's happening in the District and bus schedules.
